President

Ashley Hayes

Ashley grew up in sunny San Diego, where she traded the waterpolo ball for books at UC Berkeley, majoring inPolitical Science and History (as a fourth generation Cal grad and sixth generation Californian, she always knewshe would be a Golden Bear!). She joined Spinsters of San Francisco soon after graduating college, alongside several of her Delta DeltaDelta sorority sisters, and has greatly enjoyed her last six years with the Spinsters! Her favorite things in SanFrancisco include the hot Indian summers, the numerous street fairs, Bay to Breakers, Dolores Park, Balboaburgers, DCW, S Factor, Lyon Steps, sailing to Sam’s, liquid lunches and champagne dinners. She is often incredibly busy, juggling the joy of Spinsters, the work of Google, the fun of singlehood, and the many incredible friends she has all over San Francisco! Ashley’s favoriteSpinsters memory is wine tasting in Napa at a Prospective Member event in 2006, as she met so many amazingwomen that she is honored to call dear friends, many of which she has served with on the Board over the last three years. After serving as Secretary, then Vice President, Ashley is absolutely thrilled to be the 82nd President! Do stop and say hello to our dear President -- assuming you can catch her!

Vice President

Talia Wright

Resident event expert Talia Wright might be the only board member with a tan, she grew up far away from our fog-bound burb in Tucson, Arizona. An active Alpha Phi at The University of Arizona, she was the Philanthropy Chair and Vice President of Marketing. She is excited to be serving as the Spinster’s 82nd Vice President and hopes to plan more exciting events like 80’ Prom and Patrons Reception 2011. She adores her San Francisco Giants and if you don’t find her cheering at AT&T Park you find her sipping mimosas at brunch, snacking on Blue Barn’s Tostada Salad, catching a spin class or strolling down Chestnut Street. Talia’s not-so-secret specialty is her killer enchiladas (made from her grandmother’s New Mexican recipe) and she does a mean karaoke rendition of Katy Perry’s Firework.

Secretary

Kate Solso

Miss Spinster, Kate Solso is a Bay Area native with a creative streak.  She majored in Costume design at Boston, Massachusetts’ Emerson College and, after four east coast winters, decided to head home.  She’s a veteran of the Happy Hour Committee, the Holiday Ball Committee and the General Meetings Committee and loves dressing up for all the amazing events planned by fellow Spinnies. Kate loves San Francisco’s moody weather, diverse culture and amazing food- she can’t imagine a city without the Ferry Building Market, Mission burritos and Magnolia beers. You can usually find her sweating it out at Bikram Yoga, cooking up dinner with her crazy family or sharing a drink with the fierce, talented and beautiful women that make up Spinsters of San Francisco!

Treasurer

Mary Ann Nguyen

Treasurer Mary Ann Nguyen is flew the coop from her native Chicago for San Francisco’s moderate climate and rocking start-up culture.  A graduate of DePaul University with a major in International Studies.  Miss Mary Ann is our resident Excel Ninja, using her powers for good to keep each and every Spinsters event fabulous.  She is a veteran of the Happy Hour and Development committee and loves her calendar jam-packed with Spinsters’ fun! A word of advice: if you meet Mary in a bar don’t challenge her to a round of billiards- we hear she’s a bit of a shark.

Membership Director

Laura Davis

Membership Director Laura Davis is a sixth-generation Californian hailing from sunny Sacramento. She kept it local with a degree in Environmental Science from UC Berkeley and started her membership career early as the New Member Educator and Recruitment Counselor for Alpha Phi.  She moved across the bay for the plentiful frozen yogurt, great wine bars, and so she could visit as many restaurants as she could in her Zagat Restaurant Guide book. Laura, although a huge fan of the sun, loves to relax while watching the fog roll in over the Golden Gate Bridge while sipping her favorite pinot with fellow Spinnies.  She thrives on a packed social calendar and loves to get dolled up for black-tie events. She values the Spinsters ability to connect young women not just to each other, but to all of the organizations throughout the city as well.  She is thrilled to be serving on the board!

Charity Director

Katie Hansen

Katie grew up across the Bay and headed down to sunny San Diego, where she studied Political Science at UC San Diego. After having tons of fun as a member of Pi Beta Phi and spending countless hours at the beach, Katie felt the pull of her fifth- generation Bay Area roots. She moved back up north and promptly joined Spinsters of San Francisco at her mother’s suggestion, and has been busy taking The City by storm ever since! This past June, Katie completed her Masters Degree in Clinical/ School Psychology at CSU East Bay. Katie’s favorite Spinsters memories are far too many to count, but she does have a special place in her heart for good times spent at The Guardsmen Tree Lot each holiday season- she loves to mix up some of her special recipe bloody marys behind the bar and smell the delicious tree- scented air. Previously the Secretary of Spinsters, Katie is honored to serve on the Board of Directors again this year as Charity Director. She looks forward to raising funds for and building a strong bond with Spinsters’ new charity partner for the 2011-2012 year, Oasis for Girls.

Committee Director

Cate McDonough

A bi-coastal hybrid Cate grew up in California and Connecticut and couldn’t resist moving back to our beautiful burg.  She majored in sociology with an emphasis in criminology at the University of San Francisco and now serves our fair Bay Area as a deputy probation officer.  While her job may be serious business, Cate keeps everything else fun! From tennis to golf to kayaking and hiking- she always up for something new.  She loves the professional, passionate and confidant women she’s met through Spinsters and cites her favorite party at Butterfly where  our Spinnie ladies were forbidden to wear black, and the party was a riot of color! Cate is excited to attend more innovative events as this year’s Committee Director.
